Returning: Wentworth

Wentworth fans still doubting last season's cliffhanger may want to sit down...

Wentworth fans who are still doubting the death of Bea Smith in Season 4, will be getting answers in early April.

The show resumes at 8:30pm Tuesday, April 4th on Showcase, but without Danielle Cormack.

As a synopsis reveals, Kaz (Tammy McIntosh) is taking over as “top dog” -and there is deliberately limited info on the fate of former governor Joan Ferguson (Pamela Rabe).

After leaving viewers in shock at the end of last season, the story resumes in the days following Bea Smith’s tragic death at the hands of Joan Ferguson.

Emotional, psychological and professional shockwaves pound the inmates and staff of Wentworth Correctional Centre. Governor Vera Bennett is under fire from Corrective Services and, with Will on suspension, she is relying more on her deputy Jake, not realising he is now Ferguson’s puppet.

New top dog Kaz has a challenge to restore order amongst the traumatised inmates, though Sonia remains aloof focusing on her upcoming trial. Liz has to decide if she follows her heart or her head. Doreen struggles with being separated from her son and Boomer supports Maxine as she continues her battle with breast cancer.

On the outside, it falls to Franky to break the devastating news about Bea to Allie.

Starring Nicole da Silva as Franky Doyle, Pamela Rabe as Joan Ferguson, Kate Atkinson as Vera Bennett, Sigrid Thornton as Sonia Stevens, Celia Ireland as Liz Birdsworth, Katrina Milosevic as Sue ‘Boomer’ Jenkins, Shareena Clanton as Doreen Anderson, Robbie Magasiva as Will Jackson, Tammy MacIntosh as Kaz Proctor, Kate Jenkinson as Allie Novak, Bernard Curry as Jake Stewart and Socratis Otto as Maxine Conway.

The supporting cast includes Libby Tanner as Bridget Westfall, Jacquie Brennan as Linda Miles, Martin Sacks as Derek Channing, Sally-Anne Upton as Lucy Gambaro, Steve Bastoni as Don Kaplan, Charli Tjoe as Tina Mercado and Ra Chapman as Kim Chang.

Shot on location in Melbourne, Wentworth is a FremantleMedia Australia production for Foxtel.

8:30pm Tuesday, April 4th on Showcase.
