TEN shows win slots but Nine scores Thursday

Ratings: It's possible to win from 7:30 to 10pm and still not claim the night.

TEN’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and Gogglebox both won their timeslots and topped the demos last night, but it still wasn’t enough to stop Nine wining the night. Why? Look to its numbers earlier than 7:30pm and later than 10pm for an answer to that question.

But it did manage to come second in primary channel share, pipped by Seven in network share because it lacks a third multichannel.

Seven News won its timeslot whilst ACA was the only significant timeslot win for Nine.

Newton’s Law dropped slightly for ABC from 546,000 last week to 509,000 last night.

Nine network won Thursday with 28.4% then Seven 25.8%, TEN 22.9%, ABC 16.7% and SBS 6.2%.

Nine News was best for Nine with 852,000 / 833,000 then  A Current Affair (689,000), RBT (625,000), The Big Bang Theory (599,000 / 502,000), Hot Seat (402,000 / 248,000) and movie: The Equalizer (292,000).

Seven News was #1 with 893,000 / 884,000 for Seven then Home and Away (678,000), The Chase (516,000 / 435,000) and Mighty Trains (464,000). The Investigator was 261,000.

I’m a Celebrity Get Me out of Here (871,000) and Gogglebox (752,000) both won their timeslots for TEN. The Project drew 523,000 / 316,000, TEN Eyewitness News was 462,000 and a replay of This is Us was 246,000.

ABC News (687,000) led for ABC then 7:30 (558,000), Dream Gardens (536,000), Newton’s Law (509,000) and No Offence (247,000).

On SBS it was Destination Flavour Singapore (176,000), SBS World News (126,000) and Food Detectives (116,000). Deutschland ’83 was 62,000.

Shaun the Sheep ruled multichannels again with 205,000.

  1. Oh my god to the 750,000 plus people who watched Gogglebox oh dear ….. the australian version is a pale version of the original UK version. The UK version have actually entertaining funny characters on the show …. the people on the australian show are dull and have no personality compared to the UK version. I use if I need to get to sleep … the one credit I give this show is that these people are more real than those on MKR, Bride & Prejudice and Married At first sight ….. please it is a sad state of Australian TV that these are rating

  2. Slightly annoyed to find that Ten had advertised Law and Order again last night – I turn on the television and what do I see? A repeat of the This is Us episode from the previous night. Poor form. At least have the courtesy to update the EPG and tell people if you have no intention of screening the originally scheduled program.

          1. There is a good chance 10 could take the night on consolidated. Huge bump for last week. Even for an unadvertised “encore” of This is us

  3. Why did they play This is Us as an encore again
It continues to get low numbers, why do the persist?
Bring back SVU and/or Blue Bloods (shows that we are yet to see here in Aus) and stop showing the same episodes two nights in a row.

    Please and thankyou

    1. Deejays, I too was sad when I realised the current episode of Blue Bloods wasn’t shown, for repeats of recently shown episodes of other shows, This is US and L&O SVU.

On a hunch, late this afternoon (Friday), I looked at Tenplay and realised that Thursday’s episode had been added. So, I was able to watch the episode that should’ve gone to air. It’s S7 E15 of 17. Which means with only a few eps to go, it’s sad TEN wants to play around with a show, late in the season, that some, like me, watch every week.

  4. Seven need to drop these MKR/Chase specials. They’ve bombed two weeks in a row. If you’re a hardcore The Chase fan, you’ve already watched the 3pm UK version and 5pm regular version – a third hour is tough even for the most diehard fan.

  5. Will there ever be a day channel 10 will close its doors .. it’s never gonna get anywhere with the people running it these days .. doesn’t take a rocket science to see their Desicions are going to flop ( tom Arnold the biggest draw card .. blind Freddy could see he would not connect to Australia audiences )

    1. Well, it’s been the lowest rating commercial network pretty much all of it’s life.

But I think the year-end numbers over the last few years would disagree with you – 10’s yearly network share seems to be slowly increasing, while 7 & 9’s are slowly decreasing…

      1. But we r making excuses because it’s channel 10 .. if 7 or 9 scooped low as they have I’m sure the channel will b up for the axe ..channel 10 have lost there touch ..gone r the days of Tuesday nights a bitch n big brother ..mayb it’s just me being a young devoteed reader of this site #generationgap ??
