Former stars of iconic soap Number 96 gathered in Sydney last week, and Melbourne last night, for a book launch by author Nigel Giles.

Giles spent five years gathering the personal accounts of cast and crew, for his behind-the-scenes look at all the highs, lows, twists and stories of Australia’s most notorious address.

Creator David Sale, said of the book, “It was like being in a room filled with all those talented people who helped make the series such a memorable success. Hearing their voices again, reliving those incredible, exciting times had me reminiscing, laughing and — at times — reduced to tears for those of them who have passed away.

“This entertaining and informative book is a fitting tribute to them all, and a valuable addition to the Number 96 legend.”

Number 96 is published by Melbourne Books and retails at $39.95

    1. The rights for this are murky – Cash Harmon made the show for Ten but with the production company long gone, and no surviving paperwork, Ten get copyright by default. They said yes to the DVD releases but no to a Foxtel channel who wanted to replay the series. With all the black and white episodes destroyed back in the day, 700 colour episodes survive at the national Film and Sound Archive but unless there is a reason to do so, they probably won’t be digitised and therefore continue to deteriorate, maybe lost forever again one day soon. Very sad – perhaps we need a crowd funding exercise (or a philanthropist) who will appreciate the historical significance of this show and preserve it for future generations

      1. There’s not much to see on Channels One, 10 or 11 these days how awesome would it be for one of them to re-run the remaining episodes of Number 96. Or even make them available to streaming services like Stan or OzFlix.
