My Kitchen Rules slips under a million viewers

Sunday: Another low for MKR as Married at First Sight tops the night, but 60 Minutes drags Nine down.

My Kitchen Rules has slipped under the magic million for the first time in its history.

Last night the show drew 968,000 viewers, beaten again by Nine’s Married at First Sight on 1.16m viewers, down slightly on last Sunday. Seven’s series couldn’t have been helped by a public holiday eve in some cities.

TEN’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here was third in its slot with 705,000 rising to 833,000 for the elimination of Nazeem Hussain, up on last Sunday.

Although Seven couldn’t nab a million viewers anywhere last night at least Sunday Night‘s Princess Di story won its slot with 858,000 viewers.  ABC’s Vera still came second, with 60 Minutes concerningly falling from last week.

SBS was also down last night.

Seven network won Sunday with 30.3% then Nine 29.5%, ABC 17.7%, TEN 17.0% and SBS 5.5%.

Seven News was best for Seven with 996,000 viewers then My Kitchen Rules (968,000), Sunday Night (858,000) and The Blacklist (303,000 / 188,000).

Married at First Sight was #1 for Nine with 1.16m then Nine News (997,000), 60 Minutes (662,000) and Lethal Weapon (302,000).

Vera (794,000), ABC News (715,000) and Grand Designs (692,000) comprised ABC’s night.

I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here drew 705,000 rising to 833,000 for its elimination. Bull was 458,000, Bondi Rescue was 360,000, TEN Eyewitness News was 344,000 and NCIS: New Orleans was 319,000.

On SBS it was Roman Britain from the Air (196,000), Lost Tribe of the Amazon (157,000), SBS World News (143,000) and The Boy Who Tried to Kill Trump (110,000).

ABC2’s Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom ruled multichannels with 173,000.

  1. It is the casting this season, far too many people you just don’t care about and some truly odious villains who are simply not compelling. The casting is normally stellar, it is nowhere nears as good this year. Also, can we please keep the home dinner psrties to two rounds only?

  2. Even if I could tolerate and enjoy MKR, 4×90+ minutes a week is a big commitment. If they have to bring this show back next year, just cut to the chase and minimise the episode numbers and length.

    1. Agreed! If Channel 7 want to rejuvenate the show, cut it back to 3 episodes a week with episodes strictly 60 mins long each and wrap the show up in about 8-10 weeks. 12 weeks of the show is far too long.
