Sunday Night: Mar 12

Sunday Night speaks to former insiders of the late Diana, Princess of Wales.

Seven is screening “A Sunday Night Royal Event” this weekend with “The Diana We Never Knew.”

This report speaks to former insiders of the late Princess of Wales, who died tragically in August 1997.

Even after 20 years, Diana, Princess of Wales’ flame still burns brightly.

She set out to become the Queen of our hearts, and succeeded brilliantly – in life, and in death.

On this milestone anniversary, the central people in Diana’s life have agreed to step back into the spotlight.

Her best friend, Rosa Monckton. Her bodyguard, Ken Wharfe. Her trusted butler, Paul Burrell. The Fleet Street journalist Richard Kay. And her lover, James Hewitt.

Everybody loved the People’s Princess.

She was a luminary on the world stage, so sophisticated and seemingly confident. Yet Diana was also an incredibly vulnerable woman, scandal and sordid headlines never far away.

And for such a public personality, so much still remains private.

That is, until you’re allowed into her inner circle, and talk to her closest confidants.

Then you finally see the real Diana.

They reveal to Sunday Night’s Melissa Doyle Diana’s most intimate secrets. The conspiracies, a chilling letter never before seen, and the answer to the question everyone wants to ask.

8.30pm on Seven.

  1. To quote Peggy Lee, Is that all there is? No other stories? I’ve heard all these conspiracy theories about Diana many times and I’m not interested in revisiting them just because the calendar says it is the tenth anniversary. Not good enough, Seven.

    1. Sorry ’bout that, it is the 20th anniversary. Funny how we always seem to skip over that lost decade of the Noughties when calculating anniversaries like this.

  2. Perhaps not Rosa Monckton, but the rest of this crew seem to make their money off tales of Diana past. Wonder how much 7 paid for their participation.

    1. Yes, but she’s sister to “Lord” You-Can’t-Prove-I’m-Not-Wrong-So-I-Must-Be-Right Monckton, and her journalist husband linked the Brexit result to the legalisation of same-sex marriage, so you could probably bet she’s got a good conspiracy theory or two up her sleeve.

Gotta love her Wikipedia entry too: “Her charity activities also include campaigning for disabled people to be paid less than minimum wage.” 😉
