Tom Arnold to sue TEN following I’m A Celebrity appearance

Comedian accuses TEN of being "dishonest, disingenuous" and vows to take legal action.

Tom Arnold has taken to Twitter to reveal he plans to sue Network 10 following his time on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

In his latest tweet Arnold indicates he is happy with ITV Studios, which produces the series.

But he describes TEN as “Dishonest, disingenuous” and is suing for payment and damages.

Arnold indicated last week he was unhappy with payment for I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, and plans for a comedy tour that was due to follow.

TEN maintains it has paid him fees related to the series and was not directly involved with plans for a comedy tour, which has shelved after his flat performance in the series.

Network TEN General Counsel, Stuart Thomas recently said: “Network TEN will not discuss the terms of a confidential agreement that was signed by Tom Arnold after legal and PR advice was provided to him, but we can confirm that TEN does not owe him any money under our agreement with him and we have made all payments owing to him.

“Any suggestion that TEN has not acted in good faith is unfounded and misleading. Tom Arnold’s only agreement with TEN was for his appearance in I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!.

“TEN understands that Tom Arnold’s agent and lawyer were exploring a tour option for him, however, due to his performance in the jungle, the tour operator declined to proceed with the tour.”

Whether Arnold has been fully briefed is also unclear.

He once told his former cast mates he thought the talent would be staying in hotels in South Africa and just filming scenes for the cameras.

Meanwhile he is also unhappy with Steve Price after revealing how Arnold spoke to the crew.

“Abused people who were just doing their job and that is just not acceptable. He was just rude and abusive to people doing their job. He should have behaved a lot better,” Price told the Herald Sun.

“Tom was a disruptive influence in camp, that is what he was hired to do,” Price said.

“I know he wasn’t paid that ($900,000) … he showed me what he was paid, which was stupid of him.”

At least he is happy with producers ITV Studios Australia.

  1. I can’t say I have that much sympathy for the shows producers, they did get their pound of flesh from the contestants during this travesty of a reality TV show. Besides Hollywood celebrities are well used to being the exploiter not the exploited.

  2. Always a risk with getting US “talent” on the show, with their default position of legal action. Pity, because Maureen McCormick was a huge hit, maybe because she didn’t have such a huge ego.

  3. do we know how much he was actually paid? whoever came up with the stupid idea of putting him on there no doubt be out of a job now & rightly so.
