UK telemovie Maigret Sets a Trap, featuring Rowan Atkinson as French detective Jules Maigret will screen on ABC.

Based on novels by Georges Simenon this is the first of two telemovies which screened on Pay TV last year.

It will be followed by Maigret’s Dead Man later in the year.

It’s set in 1955 during sweltering summer in Paris, as the city is gripped with fear as four young women are murdered on the streets of Monmatre in a spree of seemingly unconnected attacks. Chief Inspector Maigret is under huge public and professional pressure to find the killer before he strikes again. Maigret sets a trap which ultimately leads to a thrilling climax.

Further cast include Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter, True Blood), Aiden McCardle (Mr Selfridge, The Mill), Shaun Dingwall (Silent Witness, Death in Paradise), Lucy Cohu (Broadchurch), Leo Staar (Call The Midwife, Lewis), Rufus Wright (Miranda, Doctors), Hugh Simon (The Mill, MI‐5), David Dawson (Ripper Street, Peaky Blinders), Colin Mace (Doctors, Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies) and Rebecca Night (Starlings).

8:30pm Sunday April 16 on ABC.
