Series Mania 2017: winners

Israeli drama wins at prestigious French festival, buy Seven Types of Ambiguity misses out.

Israeli drama Your Honor has won the top prize at the prestigious Series Mania TV Festival in France -but ABC’s Seven Types of Ambiguity has missed out on a competition prize.

Your Honor which tracks an upstanding magistrate’s desperate – and increasingly illegal – attempts to protect his son from Israeli mob vengeance has already been optioned for a North America-based remake with Peter Moffat as writer.

The Good Fight, yet to be picked up in Australia, won the Audience Award.

Damon Lindelof who presided over the jury said, “Series Mania is the most professionally produced and remarkable festivals I have ever attended. Every television series I viewed was extraordinary… the most challenging aspect of the competition was narrowing down an excellent field to just a few awards. Not only was the scope of the shows diverse internationally, but diverse ideologically. From comedies to drama, it was simply astonishing how unique each series was. This is truly a new golden age of television and it was one of the highlights of my life to celebrate it by being on the jury for Series Mania.”

Series Mania will be held in Melbourne in July.
