A-League final breaks FOX Sports records

Sydney FC win over Melbourne Victory draws a bumper crowd.

Yesterday’s A-League Grand Final was the highest rating match in FOX Sports history at 367,000 viewers.

But 553,000 fans saw Milos Ninkovic in a penalty shootout as Sydney FC defeated Melbourne Victory.

FOX Sports CEO, Patrick Delany, said: “What a match, and what a finale.

“The fans. The atmosphere. And two teams putting everything on the line in a gruelling contest; it was drama at its best.

“Congratulations to Graham Arnold and his players. A standout year for the Sky Blues, and extremely deserving champions.

“Yesterday’s bumper ratings prove that football in Australia is on the rise. I can’t wait to see what next season serves up,” he said.

The match also drew a crowd on SBS VICELAND of 254,000 viewers.

The 2016 FFA Cup has proven to be the highest rating edition since its inception in 2014, up 36 per cent year on year.
