CBS Upfronts 2017: trailers

First look at the Big Bang spin-off, Young Sheldon.

CBS has revealed its Upfronts presentation in the US, but alas has opted to geo-block its trailers on YouTube. But I’ve managed to link to Big Bang spin-off Young Sheldon via Bauer.

CBS has also come in for some criticism due the dominance of male-skewing titles, including the testosterone SWAT and SEAL Team. All six have male leads, and only one has a non-white male in the leading role.

“I don’t think we’ve ever had to apologise for having Madam Secretary and Lucy Liu, and The Good Fight and The Good Wife,” said CBS boss Les Moonves.

“We do a number of pilots, a lot of them have women in starring roles. There are a lot of women on the schedule. The best pilots win at the end of the day. And we think our track record is okay.”

I will update other trailers later.

  1. Interesting to see what the writers of Me, Myself & I think of 2042, if cockroaches aren’t ruling our planet.
Meet the Xiaomi world of self sufficiency. Oil & Gas used up, Solar & Wind power useless because of the world-wide cloud cover and crop failures due to insufficient sunlight. The “people need homes” deforestation fires of 2020 are still burning.
Xiaomi now make Home Nuclear Power Sources with enough power to run our air-purifiers and hydroponic veggie patches in our “safe houses” on stilts above the CO2 layer on the ground.
Vegetarian life isn’t so bad and you quickly get used to caprine milk from our bio-disposal units. Every moon-less night we think of the rich people who managed to get away to the “scientific” Moon-bases.

  2. Hi David,
Any word on when STD (Star Trek Discovery) is going to be airing? it was pushed back to May but still no word. I believe CBS has U.S right and Netflix has international. Cheers

  3. So annoying that they are geo blocking all the trailers. Can’t find any of those on youtube.

Their new shows will probably be generic procedurals anyway. Only CBS shows I follow are Elementary and Survivor.

  4. Young Sheldon wasn’t bad. The mother is a good match for Laurie Metcalf in BBT.
SWAT seems to be a race thing. Not interested.
I laughed at 9JKL, definitely the best of them.
I like that they were all 4 or 5 minutes long.
