Freeview FV has added Chromecast to both the Android and iOS versions of its app, allowing users to finally cast Live TV onto their set.
Details are yet to be formally announced by Freeview.
“Freeview Australia has partnered with Switch Media, a leader in the development of high quality technology solutions for the television industry. Switch Media provided a flexible and innovative approach to the integration of our FTA network’s live streams and catch up assets resulting in a seamless Freeview FV user experience, ” said Liz Ross, CEO, Freeview Australia.
The updates for both the Android and iOS versions of Freeview FV are now available in Google Play and Apple’s App Store.
Requires Chromecast already connected to TV.

Good for areas that have poor TV signal or areas where signal is affected by frequent storms. Especially since a Chromecast is only $45.
Great idea, a specially, if you have bad tv signal reception , looking forward to Ten channels to be streamed as well !
“allowing users to finally cast Live TV onto their set.”
Or you could just do this using any Android TV box anyway.
Google’s snooping technology is embedded into the chromecast device. I would use freeview if it was able to block the device from talking directly to the internet. I don’t really care if Google Inc knows what movies I watch but I’m not the only user of the device and it doesn’t know that!.
No Apple TV? Not in that App Store 🙁
When are the networks going to take Android TV seriously? Only Channel Seven seem to take the platform serious enough.
