House Rules couple “break-up” on air

NSW couple claim they have "split up" during the stress of Reality TV renovations.

In what may possibly be a new low in Reality TV one couple in House Rules has told producers their relationship is “over” following the stress and disagreement in renovation.

Divorced father-of-one Troy and partner Bec had been planning a life together prior to the Seven series, but after a breakdown in communications they indicated that dream would not be realised.

“It’s pretty gut wrenching to know that when the show finished we were going to start our lives together and now that’s not going to happen. The relationship with Troy and I is over,” Bec said.

Troy continued renovations alone while Bec stayed off-site, in the episode last night.

But both are part of the Seven series and will re-appear as a team again tonight, sparing producers the drama of re-casting.

  1. That’s sad to hear. I wonder if this couple have a happy solid relationship and then after a few weeks, a reality show broke up their relationship, or whether it was already rocky,

  2. Again, Seven’s reality shows have people talking about the scandal and drama between contestants while nobody is talking about the wow of the work being done by them. This is why I’ve switched off Seven’s shows altogether over the last few years. They had the balance right with their version of The Amazing Race though.

      1. Indeed. We watch Ten, ABC and SBS Food Network live (or record on PS3 for later) quite a lot and have appreciated Nine coming good on fastracking Survivor so we watch that live but Seven have lost a lot of traction in our house.

  3. My parents split when 6, I’m now 23. They’re both still good friends after all these years my mum has remarried and everything. I pitched the idea of them applying as a “ex-partner” style duo for the block. I’m sure the producers would love that. Both have an eye for design. Haha both were like hell no.

  4. Anything for some drama to try to improve the ratings. I see Seven have split the reveal episodes in half, over to Monday now – because that’s all people care about.

  5. Are they even allowed to leave the show if they wanted to? Would it be in breach of their contract to leave before they are eliminated?
