MasterChef tops slot, Nine’s Thursday win.

Ratings: It's taken a quiet Thursday for Nine to win its first night of the week.

It’s taken a quiet Thursday for Nine to win its first night of the week, but it did so thanks to sport.

MasterChef was the top entertainment show  up from 875,000 last Thursday to 935,000. Direct comparisons with other shows are much trickier given staggered schedules on Seven and Nine.

The Footy Show, with Rebecca Maddern greening up in response to a sledging on AFL banners, was 449,000 down on last week’s 461,000 (including late NRL edition).

The final episode of Seven Types of Ambiguity wrapped with 355,000 -the exact same number as a week ago. The Checkout was 481,000.

Seven News and ACA again won their slots and The Chase outranked several primetime entries by Seven.

Nine network won with 27.4% then Seven 26.2%, TEN 23.3%, ABC 15.8% and SBS 7.2%.

  1. Why on earth is 7 playing Front Bar against The Footy Show which enjoys an hour head-start?

Maybe show it on 7mate at 7:30 but otherwise makes no sense..

    1. Due to schedule consistency.

The Front Bar is airing on Thursdays this year, to be the Live post-game show during Thursday Night Football.

Of which for the first time in AFL/VFL history, there’s around 8 games, 5 games straight from next week.

  2. Bec Maddern looks great!

It’s a shame though, because I really dislike the show these days, gone off the rails and no chemistry with Hutchy.

Clearly reflected in the audiences this year.

Also, happy to see Ten doing well, impressive key demographics for a Thursday.

    1. Can we just assume that you will always be happy when Ten does well so that you don’t have to keep writing the same thing every single day?

    2. I agree with your thoughts on the footy show. I’ve watched 1 episode this year and that was just so I could see the memories of Lou and once that was over I switched off. Love Rebecca she is amazing, but I can no longer stand Hutchy and Sam. Would love to see a total revamp of the show with Rebecca hosting on her own. Drop Hutchy and Sam and add Dave Hughes and other comedians to the panel full time… sorry I’ve just realised I’m talking about Before the Game. How I miss that show, but what a great formula it would be for a revamped Footy Show hey? Yes I’m dreaming.

      1. Bec was being groomed for many years for potentially something big one day at Seven.

She decided to take a completely different path, with her passion for footy (and Geelong), which I respect.

But we’ll never know what could have been.

Replacement for Peter Mitchell or Jennifer Keyte on news? Her own sport show? Promotion to Sydney? Her own show?

I’m still waiting for her to appear on The Today Show as a fill-in for news, as was flagged when she signed with Nine. She said “not for the first year”, but it’s now wnd year

I guess she’s busy with Ninja Warrior.
