My Kitchen Rules has come to a close for 2017, wrapping with 1.39m for the bulk of its finale, rising to 1.48m for the Winner Announced, in preliminary figures.
The foodie series, which has dominated the first quarter of 2017, closed at 25% lower than 2016 (1.82m / 1.97m). But the later timeslot helped House Rules to a 1.00m launch, up on last year’s 718,000 premiere and avoiding a clash with MasterChef.
However The Voice still won its timeslot at 1.2m viewers, its best since kicking off a week ago. TEN was caught in the crossfire, unable to rise above 400,000 viewers all night –MasterChef cannot come soon enough.
Elsewhere Grantchester, fresh from the UK, drew 556,00 for ABC.
Seven Network easily won with 36.9% then Nine 29.3%, ABC 13.8%, TEN 12.3% and SBS 7.7%.
My Kitchen Rules (1.48m / 1.39m) was #1 for Seven then Seven News (1.2m) and House Rules (1.00m). Trial and Error debuted with 450,000.
The Voice (1.2m) led for Nine then Nine News (1.06m), 60 Minutes (827,000) and Madness in the Fast Lane (413,000). Lethal Weapon drew 144,000.
ABC News (775,000), Grantchester (556,000), Doctor Who (473,000) and DCI Banks (332,000) comprised ABC’s night.
Modern Family (341,000 / 269,000) was best on TEN. Bondi Rescue (330,000), TEN Eyewitness News (324,000), Bull (267,000) and Family Feud (266,000) followed. Formula One was 106,000 in 3 cities.
On SBS it was Britain’s Pompeii (285,000), Walt Disney (220,000), SBS World News (207,000) and Building Hitler’s Supergun (132,000).
ABC2’s Ready Jet Go! topped multichannels on 213,000.

Season 8 of MKR rated much lower than Season 7 MKR. Probably due to a strong rival against 9.
Do you have any season 7 and 8 figures?
2016 finale is noted in the story. You can search the site for other figures, which is how I offer the site. I don’t memorise numbers sorry.
I have never missed an ep of House Rules but as with MKR I’m over it. Same ol’ same ol’. Stopped watching after the shed was demolished. I’m just bored with the show. Might drop in occasionally – or not.
Worst.House Rules.Ever.
Last night’s episode of The Blacklist was the all time best, explaining lots of mysteries from the past three seasons. Of course Channel Seven chose to show it at 10.45 and cut, what was a double episode in the USA, in half.
Was the second half a double episode (last weeks was the first part) I watched them back to back earlier and thought they were both excellent ( I don’t like waiting for 7)
The annoying irony. The number of times they run two otherwise unrelated eps together and tell us it’s a “movie-length” episode and then, when there actually is a double-ep, they split it up over 2 weeks.
It’s like they’re actually saying “please watch this show elsewhere”. Happy to oblige.
To be fair, it would have been shown in the US as 2 eps over 2 weeks.
I think you’ll find that the mid-season return double eps of Dembe Zuma / Requiem were both broadcast in the US on 20 April.
Didn’t watch House Rules- the new judge has turned me off. Bring back Joe Snell
Did watch Trial and Error though – haven’t laughed like that for ages, great tv. Shame about the timeslot though
