Renewed: Designated Survivor

Kiefer Sutherland’s new series Designated Survivor has been renewed for a second season.

The ABC series, which airs in Australia on Netflix, sees Sutherland as a low-level Cabinet member who becomes President of the United States after an explosion at the Capitol.

The series debuted with 10 million viewers but most recently drew 4.9 million on ABC.

The show is also now up to its fourth showrunner, hired for season 2.

  1. I thought this show was great, it’s like Jack Bauer becomes President but with Maggie Q doing all the hard-core work. So glad there is a season 2 as it finished with a cliffhanger and nothing explained about any of it.

    • I wouldn’t have expected anything less than a cliffhanger ending for a Kiefer Sutherland show, he is an actor/producer who keeps a close check on his career options, so we should expect at least four seasons of this show as a minimum, I also noted that ‘Designated Survivor’ has started to take on a ’24’ look in the latest episodes, which is probably a clue for what is to come.
