SBS adds BBC News at Six

BBC News will air every Tuesday to Saturday morning at 7am on SBS from today.

SBS will add BBC News at Six to its English language breakfast news line-up (5am – 7.30am), airing within a few hours of its British broadcast.

It will air every Tuesday to Saturday morning at 7am from today.

SBS Director of News and Current Affairs, Jim Carroll said: “SBS World Watch is committed to bringing Australian audiences the World’s best international news services. With over a million UK citizens living in Australia, and a general population hungry for news coverage, we are proud to provide this quality news bulletin five days a week.”

BBC News at Six is broadcast nationally in the UK at 6pm weeknights and attracts around four million viewers each evening. Australia will join Japan as the only other region outside Britain to broadcast one of the BBC’s most important news programs.

The half an hour national and international news bulletin is presented by George Alagiah Tuesday to Friday, with Fiona Bruce presenting on Saturdays. Other BBC News presenters including Reeta Chakrabarti, Sophie Raworth and Jane Hill also contribute.

SBS World Watch offers international bulletins from 42 international broadcasters in 35 languages other than English every morning.

Tuesday to Saturday at 7am on SBS from Tuesday 30 May.

    1. 7am EST is 10pm UK local time, they’re on daylight savings from March to October. BBC News at Ten could go out live at 7am for 6 months of the year.
BBC News at Six goes out at local time which would make it 3am Sydney time today. Sometime in October they go off ST and we go on ST so that would make the Sydney b/cast time 5am. SBS are playing it safe by delaying the b/cast.
