Airdate: Shark Tank (US)

Discovery will screen the US Shark Tank from August with guest Ashton Kutcher.

Hot on the heels of TEN’s success with Shark Tank, Discovery will screen the US Shark Tank from August.

The US edition, based on Japan’s Dragon’s Den, produced by Mark Burnett began in 2009 and now has 8 seasons under its belt.

Discovery will kick off with Season 7 with guest shark Ashton Kutcher.

What do an engaged couple from California who develop hand-held surf boards, a Los Angeles-based entrepreneur with a whimsical take on the knitted hat and two women from Philadelphia who have created a natural deodorant from activated charcoal all have in common?

These fearless visionaries have dared to enter the Tank in the hopes of convincing a panel of ‘Sharks’ – tough, self-made, multi-millionaire and billionaire tycoons – to invest in their ideas and give them a shot at fulfilling the American dream in Shark Tank, starting Tuesday 1 August at 7.30pm on Discovery Channel.

Showcasing game-changing innovation and technology, combined with entrepreneurship, the critically acclaimed Shark Tank reveals how everyday people can achieve and succeed in business. Aspiring entrepreneurs from all walks of life hope to convince the Sharks to part with their own hard-earned cash and give them the funding they need to turn their ideas into a million-dollar realities. But the Sharks have a goal too: to get a return on their investment and a piece of the next big business idea.

The Sharks are six titans of industry who turned their ideas into lucrative empires; billionaire Mark Cuban; real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran; “Queen of QVC” Lori Greiner; technology innovator Robert Herjavec; branding expert Daymond John; and venture capitalist Kevin O’Leary. This season will also see guest Sharks enter the tank for piece of the action, including actor and investor Ashton Kutcher, billionaire venture capitalist Chris Sacca, and branding expert Troy Carter.

The first episode sees guest Shark Ashton Kutcher join the panel for the feeding frenzy as entrepreneur’s pitch products ranging from the entirely practical, to some that are downright bizarre. From a product that will revolutionise the way that parents bottle feed their babies, to a modern update to the traditional roller skate and colonial era mixers that will liven up even the most exciting cocktails, is their unique selling proposition strong enough to convince the Sharks to make a deal?

Some of the other pitches featured this season include gourmet tea shots, an innovative way to check your pet’s health instantly with your phone, and a tech solution to the dreaded parking ticket. TV Host Jimmy Kimmel also returns with some ideas that he thinks will blow the Sharks’ minds. Do you dare to enter the tank?
