  1. 90% of Ronny Chieng was just people partying. If you find that funny, then the show is a hoot. Otherwise I’m struggling to find how it’s funny. Is there some requirement that in Oz sitcoms nothing actually happens? A basic plot does wonders for comedy. Remember, the ‘sit’ in sitcom stands for ‘situation.’

    1. I felt the episode was upstaged by having to introduce the US character for the Comedy Central audience. Pilot was better with Ronny perplexed by Aussie customs, so hopefully it moves back to that now it’s done. Family Law probably my current fave of the new batch.

      1. Yes, far too much focus on the partying , obnoxious American student at the expense of the other characters.
This first ep was OK with a few laughs to be had but nowhere as good as the pilot.
Would be difficult to substain the momentum of the pilot over a further 6 eps but hopefully will “settle in” by next week’s ep.

  2. Not too often Nine’s multi-channels outperform Seven’s.

Death in Paradise is powering for 9Gem, arguably the most disappointing multi-channel for a long time now.
