Seven Adelaide producer resigns

Adelaide Today Tonight senior producer Frank Pangallo (pictured, left) has resigned after 23 years with the Seven network.

Pangallo has more than 45 years in the media, joining Seven in 1994 for Real Life as Supervising Producer, before joining Today Tonight in 1995. Together with Executive Producer Graham Archer, he has been with the program since the first night on air.

Adelaide’s Today Tonight is unbeaten across its 16 successive years with more than 630 consecutive weeks won – the longest winning streak since people meters were introduced in 1991.

“This was the most difficult decision I’ve had to make in my career. I have truly loved my job and the support, respect and friendship I’ve received from all the staff I’ve worked with in the Seven Network,” he said.

“I would like to thank our host, Rosanna Mangiarelli, for her enormous input and professionalism both on air and in assisting us in producing TT.

“My motivation to succeed has never been stronger and I am proud of the achievements we’ve all made together to remain at the top of our game.”

Seven Adelaide Director of News and Public Affairs, Graham Archer, said: “Frank’s style and work is legendary and his career in the media is that of the ultimate news man. His passion and sense for news and story-telling is innate. His ability to find the story and the talent is unequalled.

“Frank has a strong sense of compassion for the underdog and the disenfranchised. Journalism is about confronting the unpleasant, uncovering secrets, celebrating great achievements, acknowledging human kindness, enjoying the eccentricities of life and presenting it all in a way that engages, informs and entertains. That is what Frank has managed to achieve. We all should take a leaf out of his book.”

Network Director of News and Public Affairs, Craig McPherson, said: “No matter where Frank worked, he became the heart and soul of that office.

“Feared by his opponents, respected by his colleagues. Everyone knew when Frank was in town. Relentless and passionate and also kind and caring. Frank helped so many over his 23 years at Seven.”

Seven Adelaide General Manager, Andy Kay, said: “I’ve known Frank for over 40 years and would struggle to find a more committed, honest and hardworking individual. He will be sorely missed at Seven, but never forgotten for setting a standard we try to achieve every day.”

Pangallo’s last day will be July 7th. Seven is yet to announce his replacement.
