What goes on in The Dressing Room?

Aussie production company takes format rights for a show that puts cameras into changing rooms at sporting venues.

An Australian production company has taken format rights for a UK observational series that looks at what goes on in change rooms at sports clubs.

The Dressing Room is due to premiere in the UK on the W channel next week. Produced by STV Productions and Motion Content Group it uses fixed-rig cameras in the changing rooms of a range of amateur sports clubs to see what unfolds before and after games.

TV3 in Norway and SBS in The Netherlands are also proceeding with local versions.

C21 reports format options have also been taken by production companies in Australia, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Finland and Denmark.

UKTV says, “Viewers will get access to an intimate and emotionally charged world, witnessing how team mates of all ages interact in the heat of the moment – their shared histories and in-jokes, their reliance on each other, their personal grudges, even their latest relationship dramas. But all these give way to the pre-match nerves and adrenalin, the instant half-time reactions, arguments and motivational speeches, as well as the post-match euphoria of victory and the bitter taste of defeat.”

  1. I hope it is a lot more interesting than what happens in the change room of the gym I go to here in Canberra in the morning. Nothing but a bunch of public servants talking shop and referring to the DRB, BER or whatever. If they ever put that on TV it would be ratings poison.
