She was originally conceived for the lead in Newton’s Law, before ABC decided to go broader, but Miriam Margolyes (Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries) will now appear on ABC screens in her UK series, Bucket.
The BBC Four comedy drama series also features Frog Stone and Stephanie Beacham.
Sabrina Duguet, from distributor all3media International, noted, “There is growing demand in the global market for intelligent and entertaining contemporary comedy drama, focusing on strong, relatable characters who offer a witty take on everyday—and not so everyday—situations. Bucket is warm, humorous and poignant, expertly led by Miriam Margolyes, arguably one of our most engaging comedy actors, and I’m very pleased to see this fantastic series heading to a new audience in Australia.”
Jessica Ellis, the head of ABC Content Sales & Distribution said, “ABC Commercial is thrilled to continue our close partnership with all3media International as we work together on the local release of the hilarious new comedy Bucket.
“Miriam Margolyes is adored by Australian audiences and she’s at her scintillating best in this outrageously funny and touching new series.”
It will air later this year.
The deal also sees ABC Commercial taking on the physical and digital home entertainment rights to both Bucket and Fleabag in Australia and New Zealand.
