Puck you, Miss…
New Zealand’s Maori Television has dropped Jonah from Tonga from broadcasting.
Chris Lilley’s 2014 series has previously attracted criticism for ‘blackface’ depictions, by both Polynesian and US groups.
Georgina te Heuheu, the chair of Maori Television, said, “We are a Maori media outlet with our own standards, and a mandate to protect and promote the Maori language and culture.
“This means that as a leading indigenous broadcaster we have a responsibility to present all cultures with a degree of respect and aroha not least those of our Pacific whanaunga.”
Chris Lilley is rumoured to be nearing his next comedy project.

It smacked of blackface to me…. *cringe*
I loved Jonah, but the character was definitely easier to take as part of an ensemble.
That not surprising. It wasnt as funny as previous outings….
