Sarah leaves MasterChef, Tim bombs out in Ninja Warrior.

Ratings: Favourites could not survive reality TV eliminations, but they helped drive Monday ratings.

Not even Bachelor Tim Robards could make it to the end of Nine’s punishing Australian Ninja Warrior course, but that’s nothing compared to what awaits the first semi-finalists tonight.

Nine’s new juggernaut pulled 1.53m viewers last night, down on last Monday’s 1.6m viewers- but who’s complaining? At least MasterChef Australia enjoyed a lift, rising 100,000 viewers to 853,000 as Sarah Tiong was sent home. 7:30 followed with Highway Patrol in fourth place.

Have You Been Paying Attention? was also up for TEN from 658,000 to 779,000 edging out Here Come the Habibs, albeit with a 35 minute head start.

Elsewhere Four Corners and Home and Away rose, with timeslot wins to Seven News and ACA.

Nine network won Monday with 32.8% then Seven 25.3%, TEN 19.2%, ABC 17.75 and SBS 5.1%.

Australian Ninja Warrior was #1 with 1.53m then Nine News (1.04m / 1.02m), A Current Affair (919,000), Here Come the Habibs! (719,000) and Hot Seat (538,000 / 331,000). Footy Classified was 207,000 in 3 cities.

Seven News (1.12 / 1.08m) led for Seven then Home and Away (759,000), The Chase (691,000 / 477,000), Highway Patrol (578,000 / 572,000) and Movie: The Bourne Identity (410,000).

MasterChef Australia (853,000) and Have You Been Paying Attention? (779,000) scored for TEN then The Project (615,000 / 390,000), TEN Eyewitness News (454,000) and  Family Feud (378,000). An Offspring encore was just 178,000.

ABC News (778,000), 7:30 (619,000), Four Corners (609,000), Australian Story (569,000), Media Watch (550,000) and Q&A (442,000) comprised ABC’s night.

On SBS it was 24 Hour in Emergency (172,000), Michael Mosley: Meet the Humans (158,000), SBS World News (153,000) and Mutiny (105,000).

Shaun the Sheep was a shoo-in on multichannels at 245,000.

  1. Good to see Ninja Warrior is still the number one show. So much for that person who commented here that it would be another Celebrity Splash.

  2. I think Ben was win this year. Hasn’t been a male winner for a few years now and he’s marketing gold with the looks and those flashy pearly whites

  3. I thought Sarah would make the final 2, although Diana is a favourite of mine, I do feel that on most days Sarah is the better cook. Still it really is down to how you go on any given day in finals week…..let’s hope that Arum serves up a compelling beef dish that tastes really nice..!!!

    1. I missed the end – GoT was calling 😉 – but wasn’t overly surprised. Sarah’s been the standout most of the way through, but by a couple of weeks ago the others had definitely caught up & I think she was just pipped at the post.

Arum’s the surprise – wasn’t challenged a lot for the first 3/4 of the series, but when he was he rose to it. Wouldn’t surprise me if he and Diana were the top 2, but even the rest are pretty close.
