Seven readies Blue Murder: Killer Cop

Seven's big gun is the anticipated Blue Murder sequel.

Seven is reportedly bringing Blue Murder: Killer Cop forward to help combat a resurgent Nine.

The sequel to the acclaimed 1995 Blue Murder miniseries portrays recent history surrounding convicted NSW detective Roger Rogerson.

In addition to Richard Roxburgh, Tony Martin and Peter Phelps reprising their roles, it includes the original director, Michael Jenkins.

Seven is tipped to screen the 2 parter next month.

Richard Roxburgh reprises his heralded portrayal of Australia’s most notorious former detective Roger Rogerson in Blue Murder: Killer Cop, leading an all-star cast including Toni Collette, Matt Nable, Dan Wyllie, Emma Booth, Justin Smith, Damian Walshe-Howling, Steve Le Marquand, Aaron Pedersen, Aaron Jeffery – and reprising their original roles, Tony Martin and Peter Phelps. A floating body, a drug deal gone wrong, and two former detectives the perpetrators. Life imprisonment is the end of Roger Rogerson’s story. The last Blue Murder ended with his expulsion in disgrace from the NSW Police Force. In this instalment, Rogerson struggles to make a living in a world that’s rapidly changing, caught between the pressures of criminals, police and a love that might save him. Written by Peter Schreck, directed by Michael Jenkins, produced by Michael Jenkins and Carol Hughes, and executive produced by John Edwards, Richard Roxburgh and Julie McGauran, Blue Murder: Killer Cop is an Endemol Shine Australia production for Seven, made with the assistance of Screen Australia and Screen NSW.

  1. Richard Roxburgh is Roger Rogerson……I have seen the trailer a few times now….had to recheck….to see who I was watching…the original…or the actor…wow.

  2. The original Blue Murder was outstanding television, hopefully this will be just as good. I’ll be recording it and skipping through the adds.

    1. Yes, the original was compelling viewing.
Hoping the sequel will be of the same quality.
Agree that the ads will be distracting – a shame it’s not on the ABC.

    1. The quality of alot of the acting in Catching Milat really cannot compare to the outstanding acting in the original Blue Murder, & since the original cast are returning for this there’s no doubt it will be great unless theres a major stuffup with scripting or production.
