All roads in Game of Thrones lead to Geelong

Residents object to the naming of a local street as "Lannaster Road."

You just gotta love this story…

Residents of a Geelong estate have objected to the naming of a local street as Lannaster Road because it is inspired by two Game of Thrones characters in an incestuous relationship.

“They objected to that fact that it had a reference to incest … it’s a fictional series,” project manager Gary Smith told the Geelong Advertiser.

He even changed the spelling from Lannister to “Lannaster” to not make it as obvious.

Other roads in the Charlemont Rise development are named Catelyn Rd, Stannis St, Winterfell Rd, Greyjoy St, Baelish Drive and Tywin St.

City of Greater Geelong administrator Laurinda Gardner said the rules stipulated that a road name must not cause offence to the general public.

  1. So did this really cause offence to “the general public” or just someone on a neighbouring estate as the newspaper story states?

Since they haven’t objected to the other names I assume that they are perfectly fine with deceit, treachery, treason, lust, debauchery, cruelty, torture, rape, murder, etc, etc.
