Boost for The Block on Sunday

Ratings: Reno show reaches a new season high, but Sunday Night also sees a big lift.

Nine enjoyed another solid win on Sunday, but there were some other numbers also worth noting.

The Block continues to rule at 7pm as the only reality show in its timeslot. At 1.35m viewers it was the highest episode this season. Australian Survivor was up on last week at 633,00 while Hell’s Kitchen Australia remained on par at 543,000 -note that none were in the same slot as The Block.

Sunday Night was strong with 951,000, second in its slot, way up on last week’s 790,000. 60 Minutes managed a win in its slot too, given neither were head to head.

ABC’s Midsomer Murders was second in its slot while Great Wall of China: The Hidden Story was just outside the Top 10 for SBS.

Nine network won with 33.2% then Seven 26.4%, ABC 16.9%, TEN 13.9% and SBS 9.6%.

The Block was #1 for Nine with 1.35m viewers then Nine News (1.21m) and 60 Minutes (867,000). Lifers drew 322,000.

Seven News (1.17m) was best for Seven then Sunday Night (951,000) and Hell’s Kitchen Australia (543,000). Heists That Shook the World was 229,000.

ABC News (711,000) led for ABC followed by Midsomer Murders (671,000) and Grand Designs NZ (510,000).

Australian Survivor (633,000), TEN Eyewitness News (309,000), Movie: Taken (283,000), Modern Family (279,000 / 209,000) and Family Feud (250,000) comprised TEN’s night.

On SBS it was Great Wall of China: The Hidden Story (336,000), Scientology: Going Clear (302,000) and SBS World News (180,000).

ABC2’s Hey Duggee topped multichannels with 209,000.

  1. Seven have done well to basically create their own 60 minutes that can outrate the actual 60 minutes. When it first launched i thought it was a gimmick that wouldn’t last.

    1. Two points. Firstly last night’s 2 shows were not up against each other, and secondly, last week 60 minutes rated higher than Sunday Night as it has on many occasions this year.

      1. Oh okay, i didn’t assume it was outrating it every week although it did last night which is what made me say it’s done a lot better than i thought it would. ie. It’s still going and can rate higher than 60min.

  2. Two SBS docos in the Top 20, the second of which didn’t finish until nearly 10:45pm. Their prime-time share was up around 3.5% on what they usually get on Sundays (5-7%).
