Habibs, You Can’t Ask That nominated at Rose D’Or Awards

Nine comedy Here Come the Habibs and ABC’s You Can’t Ask That have both been nominated for a prestigious Rose D’Or Award.

They are the only Australian programmes selected from over 430 submissions, but will have to compete with the entries from the UK, Belgium & Germany.

Here Come the Habibs is again up against UK’s Fleabag which it lost out to at the Monte Carlo TV Festival.

Aussie nominees in the past have included Please Like Me, John Safran’s Race Relations, The Last Confession of Alexander Pearce, The Librarians, The Chaser’s War on Everything, while wins went to The Eternity Man, Gruen SweatGo Back to Where You Came.

The Drama category will include The Night Manager, The Crown and The Young Pope.

“We’re thrilled that the Rose d’Or has once again attracted a huge amount of interest from the global entertainment community,” said EBU Head of Television and Rose d’Or organiser Jeroen Depraetere.

“The fantastic creativity on show this year has meant our juries have had a tough job selecting the 40 nominees competing to win a Rose d’Or trophy in Berlin. As well as shows from all over Europe we’re excited to see the first show from Latin America nominated as well as the best in entertainment from Canada and Australia. The EBU is proud that once again the Rose d’Or Awards can provide a place where the global entertainment gold standard can shine brightly.”

Dame Angela Lansbury will receive a Lifetime Achievement award to celebrate her immense contribution to the world of entertainment. A new award will also be handed to the Entertainer of The Year to recognise their global impact in the past 12 months.

Winners will be announced in Berlin on 19th September.
