Rebel Wilson settles second Bauer Media case

A case of mistaken identity costs Rebel Wilson a hefty sum.

Actor Rebel Wilson has settled a looming defamation case against a Bauer Media journalist, Elizabeth Wilson, after incorrectly blasting her online, leading her Twitter followers to do the same.

Rebel Wilson alleged Elizabeth Wilson harassed her grandmother in February 2016, calling her “total scum.”

But there were two Elizabeth Wilsons working for Bauer and Rebel Wilson had incorrectly taken aim at the features editor for Bauer’s House & Garden magazine.

She took several days to address her error, prompting Elizabeth Wilson to subsequently file a defamation case.

News Corp reports the case was quietly settled a week ago and that Rebel Wilson handed over $120,000 in damages, but neither party has confirmed the figure.

In June the actor won a landmark defamation case of her own against German-owned Bauer Media. A settlement figure is yet to be revealed.
