BBC confirms new episodes to commemorate the troupe’s debut 20 years ago.

An update today on talk of a League Of Gentlemen return with confirmation of three episodes later this year.

BBC Two Controller Patrick Holland confirmed the news at the Edinburgh TV Festival, to commemorate the troupe’s debut on BBC Radio 20 years ago.

Mark Gatiss will reunite with Steve Pemberton, Reece Shearsmith and Jeremy Dyson for the series.

The original ran from 1999 to 2002 and won the Rose D’Or and the BAFTA for Best Comedy Series in 2000. Set in the fictional north England town of Royston Vasey, it follows a group of very bizarre townsfolk.

Shearsmith and Pemberton later collaborated again on dark comedies Psychoville and Inside No.9, while Gatiss went on to co-create and star in Sherlock.
