Brenton Thwaites to play Robin in new US series

Rising Aussie star gets lead role in new project from producer Greg Berlanti, Titans.

Aussie Brenton Thwaites has been cast as boy wonder Robin in the upcoming US series Titans from producer Greg Berlanti.

Titans, from Warner Bros TV, will debut in 2018 as a live action drama that follows a group of young soon-to-be superheroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe.

The story revolves around Dick Grayson (Thwaites), who emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes, including Starfire (Anna Diop), Raven (Teagan Croft) and more.

“Dick Grayson is one of the most important and iconic heroes in the DC Universe, and it wasn’t easy to find him but we have. Brenton has the emotional depth, heart, danger and physical presence of Batman’s former protege and the Titans‘ future leader. We’re extremely lucky he’s chosen to bring his talents to this project and this character,” co-executive producer Geoff Johns said.

Since his roles in Sea Patrol, SLiDE and Home and Away, Thwaites star continues to be on the rise with film roles in The Giver, Gods of Egypt, Ruben Guthrie, Maleficent and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Titans marks first US TV series gig.
