Emmys ‘In Memoriam’ overlooks favourite stars

Erin Moran, Harry Dean Stanton -who else was overlooked?

The Emmy Awards has overlooked some significant names in its In Memoriam segment.

Happy Days star Erin Moran, who died in April aged 56, was nowhere to be seen.

Writer, performer Sam Shepard, most recently seen on Bloodline, was absent (despite nominee Jessica Lange in the room).

Harry Dean Stanton was also not included, however he died just 2 days before the ceremony, making it more difficult for the video showreel.

But Richard Anderson, from The Six Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman, could have easily been honoured, having passed away on September 1.

Meanwhile the very same segment copped some criticism for including former FOX exec Roger Ailes, despite his being accused of sexual harassment.

The Television Academy also confused RuPaul with musical director Rickey Minor, quickly deleting an erroneous tweet.

The broadcast averaged 11.4 million viewers only just ahead of the all-time low 11.3 million viewers that tuned in last year.

Deadline also notes other omitted names you can see here.

  1. Gee,when you look at the names of the people who passed away in the last 12 months,it’s a very long and talented list. We’ve lost an enormous amount of stars in the last year.

  2. Reminds me of what happened in 2013 when the Emmy Awards decided to separately honour the memory of Cory Monteith (Glee) and not Jack Klugman, “The Odd couple” and “Quincy M.E.,” or Larry Hagman from “I Dream of Jeannie” and “Dallas.” Jack and Larry were giants of the television landscape. This act of bastardry explains why I no longer watch the award ceremonies and it would appear I’m not alone judging by those viewing numbers.
