SBS nabs Norwegian drama Monster

Next Nordic noir series surrounds the hunt for a serial killer after the discovery of a mass grave.

SBS has picked up the rights to Norwegian drama, Monster, due to premiere in Norway next month.

Set in the northern Norwegian landscape, it follows the police hunt for a suspected killer after a brutal murder unearths a mass grave, linking old murder cases to missing people.

The seven-part drama was created by Hans Christian Storrøsten and director Anne Sewitsky. It is produced by Lasse Greve Alsos (Mammon, Eyewitness) while Jørgen Johansson (The Killing), widely credited with helping to create the visual tone for the Nordic Noir genre, is lead cinematographer.

In the US the series has just been picked up by Starz.

SBS is yet to announce a premiere date.
