Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em: the stage play

And you thought there was only one Frank Spencer....

And you thought there was only one Frank Spencer….

In a new stage play set to tour the UK, comedian Joe Pasquale is set to don the beret in the role Michael Crawford made famous in Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em.

The stand-up comedian has previously performed in stage shows such as The Producers, The Wizard of Oz and more seriously in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead.

But he will appear alongside Sarah Earnshaw as long-suffering wife Betty and Susie Blake as his mother-in-law from February. The production is written and directed by Guy Unsworth, who has extensive stage directing credits.

Stage productions of TV shows are nothing new with a growing list of US titles treading the board and more recently Fawlty Towers joining the ranks of UK adaptations. John Cleese premiered that production in Australia with Stephen Hall in his role, to avoid scathing reviews from British critics.

Michael Crawford briefly revived Frank Spencer alongside Michelle Dotrice last year for charity event Sport Relief.
