Syfy to refresh brand, announces returning titles.

Syfy goes large on Sunday with a new-look logo; plus new airdates for returning shows.

Syfy will hit the refresh button on its channel this Sunday, September 17.

To be known as SYFY, the Australian refresh follows a reboot of the NBCU-owned franchise in the US in June.

The reboot includes a new logo and typeface, as part of a “renewed commitment to the genre and fandom at large.”

SYFY will also feature Season 2 of The Shannara Chronicles Season Two on October 18. It cites the season 1 premiere as the most watched program in its timeslot and highest average audience for any program ever on Syfy Australia*.

Also returning are Z Nation Season Four on October 3 and Channel Zero: No End House on November 4.

“SYFY puts fans at the centre of everything we do,” said Lee Raftery, Chief Marketing & Content Officer and MD UK & Emerging Markets, NBCU International. “The new brand identity celebrates our commitment to the sci-fi genre and fandom at large – both on-air and across digital. Together with SYFY in the US, NBCUniversal’s dedicated science fiction brand is creating a universe for sci-fi fans across the world to call home.”

    1. I’m also disappointed at Dark Matter’s cancellation. It seems not being a Syfy owned production counted against it, regardless of rating and fan support.
As a reader of the show creator’s blog its interesting that right from the start the Syfy International channels were way more supportive of the show than Syfy itself

  1. Oooooh yes! I’m keen for new Shannara because I surprised myself by actually enjoying it for the most part… and Channel Zero was a nice little find earlier in the year, so I’m keen to get into a brand new story of it ?
