She is reportedly Australia’s first female news presenter, the first female news presenter to win a Logie Award inscribed as “acknowledged ability in a man’s domain.”
As Melody Welsh she was working as a production assistant on QTQ9’s children’s show the Channel Niners when she was asked to fill in as a station announcer.
She would go on to join Don Seccombe she turned Nine’s Brisbane News into a ratings powerhouse. She also married Channel Niners host “Captain” Jim Iliffe.
