A lucky Hot Seat winner walked away with a $100,000 prize yesterday.
35 year old Sarah Johnston an embryologist at Monash IVF face the final question: “In June 1983 Sally Ride became the first American woman to do what?”
- Climb Mount Everest
- Go into space
- Win an Olympic medal
- Run for President
She correctly identified the answer but only after changing her mind at the last minute. It was a decision that paid off handsomely.
By comparison $100,000 is also the prize for a full season on MasterChef Australia, Celebrity Apprentice, Zumbo’s Just Desserts & Nine’s upcoming Family Food Fight.
She plans to put the money on a house deposit.
Last year 67 year old retiree Edwin Daly became the first to win the $1m on the Hot Seat format.

Not bad – $100 grand for getting a first-round pub quiz question right…
A rare first-run episode of Millionaire. *And* on a holiday Monday as well…
This just happened to air on a holiday Monday for some states. Interesting.
