Spongebob Squarepants stop motion special

Nickelodeon loads up SpongeBob in stop-motion especially for Halloween.

With Halloween looming at the end of the month, Nickelodeon will screen a full-length stop-motion episode of SpongeBob SquarePants.

The production features 27  sets, where 15 boxes of breakfast cereal were used to create texture on Bikini Bottom’s coral reefs and eight pounds of glitter were used to decorate SpongeBob’s pineapple house.

In the stop-motion special, The Legend of Boo-kini Bottom, the Flying Dutchman wreaks havoc on the town, making sure everyone is scared – even SpongeBob!

In the visual style of classic stop-motion animated TV, viewers will find Bikini Bottom decked out for Halloween. The evil Plankton’s restaurant is renamed “The Horrors of the Krusty Krab,” telling the story of Mr. Krabs turning customers into Krabby Patties, thrill-seeking squirrel pal Sandy has her treedome redecorated as a mad scientist’s lab and all of the characters don Halloween costumes.

4:30pm Saturday October 21 on Nickelodeon.
