Walking Dead / Fear the Walking Dead cross-over planned

Robert Kirkman teases "a huge event in the world of The Walking Dead."

A cross-over episode is coming to The Walking Dead and its spin-off Fear the Walking Dead.

Speaking at a Walking Dead panel at New York Comic-Con co-creator Robert Kirkman told fans, “There is one character that is going to go from one show, that I will not name, to another show, that I will not name.

“This is a huge event in the world of The Walking Dead,” he added.

According to Deadline the cross-over expected to occur in the next year.

Fear the Walking Dead is currently screening Mondays on FX while The Walking Dead is due on October 23rd.

  1. So much for TPTB saying there would never be a crossover. I hope it’s a TWD character on FTWD and not the reverse, even though the shows are set in the same universe they have a different feel about them (FTWD were sociopaths from the get-go, TWD slowly became ruthless killers) and really, I don’t want TWD to decline anymore than it has, slotting in one of FTWD caricatures would be jarring but someone like Abraham could give FTWD a boost. The Morales appearing would make sense, they were headed for Mexico when they left TWD in S1 but some viewers wouldn’t remember them.

  2. Though isn’t FTWD taking place while Rick is in his coma? So it would have to have to be a past or future version of character that crosses over. Commercially it would make most sense for a WD character (possibly one who’s dead) to have had a past on the West Coast soon after Day Zero. A future Madison in the WD would be good, she is the only interesting character in FTWD and Dickens can act. Of course this just confirms that gimmicks and twists have supplanted good writing on the show.

  3. I would love either Strand or Daniel from ‘Fear’ to cross to ‘TWD’ as those two are my favourite characters and I think they would fit right in with their thoughts on the Walker situation.
Btw, it’s interesting to note that imho S3 of ‘Fear’ far betters that of S7 of the mother show… S3 has been excellent… still a long ways to go before it gets near the type of love I have for TWD but if they keep up the great work then it may become inevitable… have you watched any of ‘Fear’ David?

    1. I too am enjoying S3 of Fear. Took a little while to find its feet but I hope they persevere with it as the main characters are becoming a lot more interesting (Alicia finally has a personality) and the new characters from this season are good too, particularly Troy.
