Biggest Loser Producers ‘cannibalise’ contestants

Today on Melbourne radio, The Biggest Loser’s American trainers dumped on the show’s Australian producers.

Last night’s premiere featured a “final feast” in which contestants gorged themselves on food before being weighed in an entering the house. Surrounded by every kind of carbohydrate food dripping in dazzling colours, it was quite a sight.

But Bob and Jillian were unimpressed by the tactics of local producers.

Here is a transcript of what they said:

Matt: Are you comfortable with this notion of a final feast?

Bob: I hate it. It’s disgusting. If Jillian and I had any in part of that, it would not be.

Jillian: Which we don’t obviously. There are a lot of things that we don’t have control over that go on.

Bob: To see them do that and go into that feast of eating..

Matt: They are obviously encouraged to, because it wouldn’t be good telly otherwise..

Bob: Lawrence Yarwood. Can I say that? Ooops.

Matt: Is that the guy that makes them do it?

Bob: Yep.

Jo: So there’s someone behind the camera saying “C’mon guys, dig in, dig in!”

Bob: Lawrence Yarwood. The bane of our existance. We don’t like ever being part of any of the temptations. Jillian and I are trying to teach them a healthy way of living. The Lawrence Yarwoods out there are just trying to make a TV show. I love saying that – I just feel so liberated!

Jillian: Truthfully, the thing that upsets me the most is the elimination because you’ve got, let’s say a woman who loses 5kg, but she’s not won the weigh-in and she’s considered a loser. And then instead of being able to create a support system within the house, they have cannibalise each other and that’s completely opposite to what I teach people.

Bob: It’s everything I’m against.
