Call Of The Yeti – This six part series is a British cult comedy which has taken on several incarnations as a series of stage shows, a BBC radio series and a BBC Three TV series. The Mighty Boosh was created by Julian Barrett and Noel Fielding who star as Howard Moon and Vince Noir respectively. In this episode, Howard takes Vince, Bollo and Naboo for a break at a log cabin deep in the woods. There they meet its owner, crazy-bearded Kodiak Jack who is immediately taken with Vince and tells Howard of a mythical Yeti that lives in the forest. A man of many talents, Howard plans to track down and photograph the Yeti to get on the cover of Global Explorer. And so Howard’s desire for global recognition as a wildlife photographer gets the better of him: while Naboo and Bollo are off shopping at Shamansbury’s, he allows Jack time alone with Vince in exchange for directions to the Yeti’s lair. [ABC/9:35pm] Sex Bomb. Of all the propaganda campaigns of World War II, the most bizarre and sinister was the work of the Political Warfare Executive on behalf of the British government, under journalist Sefton Delmer. He was king of the nasty. Delmer had witnessed Germany unleash a new weapon – sex propaganda, and volunteered to beat the Nazis at their own game. He specialised in using pornographic propaganda to undermine the morale of German troops, spreading false stories about German sexual predilections, and ruthlessly spinning dark tales of necrophilia, paedophilia and venereal disease amongst the Nazi high command – but he paid a terrible personal price. The tactic caused a split in Churchill’s government, but German propaganda minister Josef Goebbels cursed Delmer as his most effective enemy.
