Footy Classified but not Confidential

Nine has made a late name change to its new Monday night AFL discussion show, now entitled Footy Classified.

Early this month it was plugged as Footy Confidential with Caroline Wilson, Wayne Carey Garry Lyon and Craig Hutchison.

But then Foxtel went and announced Confidential TV, a TV gossip version of the syndicated News Ltd. newspaper column.

Suddenly Nine, which has a cushy Foxtel deal co-sponsoring The Footy Show, has brought a new name off the bench.

The show to premiere on Monday April 2 at 10:35 promises:

Football is set for a shake-up when the games biggest names and agenda-setters lock horns on Footy Classified for a provocative look at the AFL. One of the game’s greatest players, Wayne Carey, joins football writer Caroline Wilson, commentator Garry Lyon and Nine’s new AFL editor, Craig Hutchison to tackle the sport’s burning issues.

NB: Unlikely to air in “non-AFL states.”

  1. I HAVE WATCHED FOOTY CLASSIFIED TWICE AND TWICE i HAVE BEEN DISGUSTED TO SEE THAT “CRAIG” OBVIOUSLY CANNOT DEAL WITH A WOMAN WHO KNOWS FOOTBALL AS WELL AS ANY BLOKE. As long as people like him and his outdated attitudes are on I will not be tuning in again.

  2. was appalled at the disrespect shown to the great Kevin Sheedy by Wilson, Lyon and the schoolboy Hutchison(14/05/07). Kevin is an extraordinary man for many reasons. Fancy telling him what he should and shouldn’t do with his life.Wayne Carey was awesome as usual.

  3. Channel 7 tried this format and failed, just as this poor replica will so do.

My ranking: 4/10: 2 for Lyon, 2 for Hutchison.
There’s a lot of lead in the ballast of this “Titanic”. Lyon and Hutchison would do well to empty the holds of the deadweights they are carrying: one with the “Footy Nous” and professional presence of Mother Hubbard; the other with the selfishness, sarcasm and pettiness of a schoolboy.

Back to “Boston Legal” on Mondays. Glad I taped it; at least somethng salvaged.
