In Studio: Kerri-Anne

Today I attended a live broadcast of Mornings with Kerri-Anne at GTV9.

As usual Kerri-Anne was consummate host, showing how a pro does live TV. A seasoned entertainer, she runs a smooth ship in her 2 hours live-to-air (Catch-Up gals take note!).

Her grand entrance in Frank Thring’s old Moomba crown and sceptre was pure showbiz, and unadulterated tongue-in-cheek kitsch! Love it.

Her guests today included Melbourne fashion designers, a few of the blokes from the AFL Footy Show, Jules Lund and performers from Miss Saigon. There were also crosses to Moomba skiiing at the Yarra with Lord Mayor John So, and the El Caballo Blanco horses in the GTV car-park.

The KAKster thought nothing of mingling with a lookalike (even a sing-alike) ‘Corrie-Anne Kennerley’ in the audience …..and she was lovely during a quick hello with me.

Unfortunately there wasn’t a tantrum or hiccup in sight (damn) but she did tell us off-camera that while she found Rowan Atkinson to be a charming, if shy, gentleman but she CAN’T STAND Mr Bean! Hilarious.

Kerri-Anne was genuinely thrilled with recording in Melbourne and is hoping to do so on a regular basis, but “the sharks on the third floor at Nine” keep their eyes on the ledger. And why wouldn’t she? The audiences gush, the crews have years of experience in live variety and Bendigo St has years of history.

Aided by warm up man Michael Pope and her sidekick Jamie Malcolm, the audience was beaming.

Meanwhile I still say if Eddie and Bert aren’t hosting the Logies then give the KAKster the gig!

“I lurrrrve yewwwwwwwwww…….”
