Ahh the perils of live TV. The Catch-Up made news today (twice) for the wrong reasons.
The first involved gangland widow Judy Moran inadvertently mentioning names of 4 men which have been suppressed by a court order.
Asked why her husband and son were murdered, Moran answered “I’d love to know that complete answer myself. I still don’t know and I would like to know one day.”
You’d think everyone had been versed on the legalities involved and the pitfalls of live TV.
A clip from the episode was placed on YouTube but promptly removed.
The second news item involved host Lisa Oldfield.
Oldfield admitted that in her youth she had dabbled with drugs, including ecstasy and cocaine.
What makes life even more complicated is that her husband, David Oldfield (formerly of Celebrity Survivor) is currently a NSW Parliamentarian.
“I really think a lot of it would be to do with the substance abuse. If I hadn’t met David I’d be dead now – that’s just how serious it was, ” she said.

I’m sad that the catch-up has been axed but I am OVERJOYED that I will no longer have to sit there and listen to Lisa Oldfield!!! She is rude and irritating and if I have to hear one more “John Howard is so lovely” “Love you John!” or watch her abuse her fellow panellists about their “Stupidity” (quote unquote!) I honestly would have cracked. She goes on about her views like they are the only way of thinking and if you don’t agree with her then you’re wrong, but she harps on about being a christian when, er, excuse me Lisa but I didn’t think it was very christian to go out and get fake lips, a fake nose and fake boobs! She’s a joke and a total disgrace.
Goodbye the catch-up, good riddance lisa oldfield!
I have been in the audience of The Catch-Up and found Lisa to be a warm, genuine, caring person. She certainly has nothing to worry about in the looks department, she is a very attractive lady.
She is moving house this week. Back Monday.
Has Lisa Oldfield been thrown off The Catch Up panel? She has not been there this week and what an improvement. The show is no longer about keeping Lisa under control – for a while at least!
Ouch that’s a bit harsh. Lisa does read this blog so you can assume she’s got the gist of your feedback.
Jack, I completely agree with you. Her dangerous conservatism and right-wing views are just so far out of touch with reality it’s unbelievable. I’m no do-gooder myself, but it is blatantly obvious to me and the majority of people I’ve spoken to about the show that she will not tolerate anyone different to her. She judges people so harshly because she has no idea what it is like to walk in their shoes. She really does not take into account the human element when she dribbles out her uninformed, uneducated, ignorant, arrogant viewpoints. If we went by the hard line she believes in, she’d probably be in jail for drug use and possession- but luckily there’s some of us out there that see that drug addiction is also a disease/medical issue. I suppose she would believe she’s not a criminal, because, you know, she’s not smoking crack cocaine or anything lower class like that. She couldn’t possibly be classed as a criminal. If only Lisa could see what a hypocrite she truly is!
Luckily the ratings of this show are dwindling as quickly as support did for One Nation.
Whilst I agree the content of this program is sometimes questionable, I think it is misguided to object to “arrogant and opinionated” women. The world would be a boring place without them.

I always said this show was a mistake and they keep proving me right … I sat in total shock as I watched them chatting like old friends to Judy Moran as if she was totally innocent(what were they thinking?) … then previously there was the “interview” with Rupert Everett who came accross as a bitter, twisted arrogant queen … then the constant garbage that comes out of the mouth of LISA OLDFIELD who is a prime example of everything that is wrong with our country’s attitudes and politics (what a surprise, she is married to that treacherous David Oldfield, explains everything!). The only bright light (apart from the other three presenters who are excellent) was the appearance of Julia Gillard … she was fabulous!!
LISA OLDFIELD has to go … self obcessed, arrogant, opinionated and offensive, … or risk destroying the whole show! Like Libby said, she needs a muzzle!
