Reality hits home

It’s been a bad week for gay contestants on Reality TV.

Two were eliminated in back to back nightly programmes, The Biggest Loser and Dancing with the Stars.

Courtney was voted out of TEN’s weight loss reality contest on Monday night. According to the show’s official website, the openly gay Courtney said, “I did want to win and did want to be The Biggest Loser but I’ve discovered so much more than that, and for that I’m grateful.” He was defeated in a vote against Munnalita.

Meanwhile former Big Brother participant David Graham was finally sent home dancing on Seven’s Dancing with the Stars. Graham has conceded dancing was not his best skill yet managed to survive week after week on his spirit and enthusiasm via the public vote.

Today Graham also criticised the show’s judge, most particularly Todd McKenney for unfairly targetting him. According to the Daily Telegraph, “He has his lines,” said Graham. “Sometimes he might be annoyed we did a bit better than he thought. (His comments) sometimes haven’t really fitted what we’ve done but he’s used them anyway because he couldn’t come up with another line quick enough.”

Tonight Graham scored one of his best results with 24, but still came last in the show’s final five couples. After again receiving ciritical comments from McKenney, Graham tried to fall on his sword by withdrawing from the final showdown against Kate Ceberano.

But host Daryl Somers stuck to the script and Graham was formally voted off the show.

Don’t forget this series still has a “twist.” It’s very likely to involve the return of an evicted couple -will it be via public vote? Could Farmer Dave return?
