ACA crash probe

Victoria Police is investigating an incident last month in which a dramatic car crash was filmed by a crew from A Current Affair in the Domain Tunnel in Melbourne.

Footage of the incident shows a truck driver colliding with a vehicle as it changed lanes. The story gave ACA a big boost in the ratings during its ongoing battle with Today Tonight.

But the truck driver has accused the car in which ACA was filming of behaving erratically, and says he was changing lanes to avoid “some clown on a mobile phone, who was not paying attention.” He claims the car even sped up to get in front of him, a claim denied by ACA reporter Martin King.

“It was totally irresponsible of Channel Nine and they created a situation where a crash was almost inevitable,” said the truck driver.

ACA is also promoting a story for Monday night with a forum to discuss traffic conduct and trucks on the roads.
