After the more serious charges against him were dropped, Matthew Newton will plead guilty to a lesser assault charge in a Sydney Court.
Newton’s lawyer, high-profile legal eagle Chris Murphy, told a Local Court he would plead guilty on June 12 to one count of common assault.
The charges stem from the break-up with former girldfriend, Brooke Satchwell, currently shooting Canal Road for the Nine Network, the same network which is home to Newton’s father, Bert.
The case has been adjourned to June 12.
Newton is set to re-appear in the second series of the TV1 sitcom Stupid, Stupid, Man.
