Britain’s media watchdog, The Office Of Communications has ruled that Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson made an offensive remark last year during an episode of the popular auto show.
Commenting that a Daihatsu Copen was “very ginger beer”, rhyming slang for ‘queer’, Ofcom said his words “became capable of giving offence. In the context, there was no justification for using the word in this way.”
An audience member had earlier descibed the car as “a bit gay” which prompted the comment from Clarkson.
Five viewers complained.
