Wait a minute. That guy in the UK entry for Eurovision looks familiar.

Yep, Russ Spencer, the blonde boy in Scooch, may also be familiar to viewers of the reality parody Boys Will Be Girls which aired here on Pay TV. In the show, Spencer was one of three former pop band members who thought they were forming a new boyband for a reality series. But once cast their pop managers told them they would have to drag it up as a girlband.

The series tracked their shock, anger, and eventual costume fittings, training and rehearsals as they tried to pass themselves off as The Honeytraps. Their one single reached #23 on the UK download chart.

Spencer rejoined his former Scooch group to take on Eurovision, eventually winning the UK vote with “Flying the Flag.”
