Californication to air in 2007

Ten has confirmed a 2007 launch of Showtime’s upcoming US series, Californication.

In a line-up announcement for the second part of 2007 Ten will also have another attempt at the US series of The Office.

Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader will launch in September from Roving Enterprises.

Ten will also revisit The Office (US) which died last time it was screened. It is a hit in America, which hadn’t seen the UK version first.

Unlike its rival networks, there is no new Australian drama.

No word on previously-announced US series Raines, Rules of Engagement, 3 Pounds or unaired eps of Jericho, Smallville and The Shield.

Also interesting to see no word on any return of The Con Test.

Press Release:

Network Ten today unveiled a winning line-up for the second half of 2007 featuring four new programs.

They join new episodes of TEN’s established favourites – including Thank God You’re Here and Australian Idol – and the biggest sporting and red carpet events of the year:

The AFL Grand Final, the Rugby World Cup and the 2007 ARIA Awards.
TEN’s chief programming officer, David Mott, said: “These diverse new and returning shows bring further depth to our schedule and absolutely speak to our target 18-49 year-old audience.

“Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader, Thank God You’re Here, Australian Idol and So You Think You Can Dance will engage the entire family, while Californication is the most original adult comedy since Sex and the City.

“With all new episodes of our established favourites continuing well into the year – including House and NCIS – this line-up will see TEN remain highly competitive in our core 18-49 profile and continue to dominate under-40s.”

  1. No, I doubt that TEN would air the remaining episodes of Season 18 of The Simpsons before the movie is released as they might want to capitalize on the movie by airing new episodes after it’s released. Stupid, I know. And I would really like it if they aired the rest of the season before July 26, but it’s unlikely.

Great to hear that The Office will be returning to primetime. The 7.30pm timeslot on TEN has been consistently s**t for a while now. I was never a fan of the US office, but I saw bits of season 2, and it looked entertaining enough.

  2. Wait… so does that mean they’re going to stop showing new episodes of the Simpsons for a while?

I was hoping they would show every episode before the movie comes out July 26th.

  3. David..Do you know what studios Rove is filming his show when he is in in LA?On his website he wants lots of Aussie expats to attend and they can apply for tickets

  4. Once again, most of us have already downloaded the whole season 3 of the US Office.

The networks have to realise that if they can’t be trusted with shows, people will find them somewhere else.
