David Hyde Pierce outs

Well he’s a wonderful actor but David Hyde Pierce needs better performance skills if he thought we would be surprised by his official coming out as a gay man.

The actor who plays ‘Niles’ from Frasier has mentioned his partner for the first time, in an article which acknowledges, “Pierce got to Los Angeles in the early 1990s when his partner, actor-writer-producer Brian Hargrove, wanted to write for television.”

The line was buried deep in an article on CNN.

Ironically the butchest character in the sitcom, sports commentator ‘Bulldog’ was played by openly-gay actor Dan Butler, who outed himself years ago, including while the show was on-air.

Pierce has been performing in the stage production of Spamalot.

Hands up anyone who is actually surprised.
